Trip to Lyon, France

At 6:10 am I was boarding the shuttle of Ramada Hotel to go to work. I still have a few minutes to spare so I bought a croissant at the airport and headed for work. And still a few minutes to spare so I checked my email and the only thing I was able to do is put an out of office reply.

Five minutes before 7 am, I went down to our reception area and waited for my boss, Dominique. At exactly 7 he called to inform me he will be there at around 7:15. So still a few minutes to spare I called Archie and talk for a while =) and then my boss arrived.

We are going to Lyon, France to do an inspection of the Saflog warehouse. It was a 2hours trip. The sun was nice and it wasn’t too cold and the sky is clear, just perfect for a nice drive. I was excited for this trip simply because I wanted to spend time with my boss outside the office. He is a great boss, he went more than an extra mile to make sure I will be settled in Geneva just fine but in the office we only have small talks because his schedule is very crazy. So this is a perfect time to get to know him a little more, to get to know the person that helped changed my life.

So as expected he was his comfortable self outside the office. We talked about a lot of things. His family, my family, his kids, my lovelife, HR, my job, Italy, stocks, Wayne, snow, skii, airplanes, everything and anything. It was good. I’ve been hoping for that kind of setting with him for quite a long time and finally it happened.

Inspection in Saflog went well. I was told I need to learn how to drive because I might frequent going there. I don’t mind going there but driving in europe is something that i don’t want to do. hmmm maybe. In the warehouse, he was teaching me what to do and how to handle things so it was pretty okay. Then we had a great almost 3 hours lunch. Yup! They had wine and food was a lot! I wasn’t even able to finish my veal and no dessert for me this time.

Then it’s time to go home. I asked him to drop me off at the office, I need to check if  I have a conference call tomorrow at 7 am or I can sleep a little longer.

Good night…
